Different Genre Analysis; Rap
This video has a clear element of performance, the video starts of with an intro in which all 3 performers are introduced to the audience. After the intro there is a number of cuts which leads into the main performance in the video. This video has no elements of a narrative and is disjunctured as there is no link between the lyrics from the song to what is going on in the video.
The star image of Chris Brown is shown through the use of a number of close ups and the mise-en-scene, the mise-en-scene shows Chris Browns style through the way he is dressed and how when he is performing everyone is surrounding him. This shows he is an icon as he is the main attraction to everyone around. There are a lot of low angle shots of the stars in the video, which makes you feel that you are looking up to them and shows that they are superior to the people around them as when you see them it is predominantly from high angle shots.
Throughout the video the performance is in sync with the beat, this is shown in the way the video cuts in time with the beat. The video has a quick pace throughout, with a large number of cuts between images. The locations in the video are mainly back streets, which goes well with this genre of music. This video is typical of an R&B music video with the way it is shot, how the main focus is the performance and the cuts and editing are in sync with the beat.
